BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – All weekend long EWTN Family Celebration presenters spoke about Mother Angelica’s love for Christ, and her determination to proclaim and defend Him and His Church.

In his homily at the Family Celebration, Bishop Robert Baker of the Diocese of Birmingham reminded the crowd of Mother’s love of proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ. This Sunday’s gospel reading was the parable of the unjust steward (Luke 16:1-13). Baker said she was faithful in spreading the truth in word and deed, and was not like the unjust steward. He also commended the EWTN employees and friars for continuing the mission begun by her. Fr. Wade Menezes and Raymond Arroyo addressed the faithful with a similar heartfelt message.

Mother continues to inspire all involved at the Network to pray and labor tenaciously and sacrificially.   It’s the mission of proclaiming Jesus Christ’s love and truth that moved her to found EWTN. Her profound love for God provided the courage to persevere through afflictions and persecutions. This same love for the Lord was witnessed throughout the weekend as employees and friars welcomed and served those in attendance. Several celebration attendees shared how Mother Angelica inspires them to evangelize and catechize.

The Friars and EWTN hope to see and meet you at future Family Celebrations. Go to www.ewtn.com/familycelebration/ for information on upcoming family events.
