TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Fr. Leonard celebrates Mass for a large group of University of Alabama Catholic students and hangs out with them afterwards.

Every Tuesday, University of Alabama Catholic students gather for Mass at St. Francis of Assisi University Parish, located on campus adjacent to the newly built Saban Catholic Student Center. University of Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban and his wife, Terry, helped raise money to build the $1.9 million, 4,600-square-foot project. After Mass the students gather for a meal.  Father was there on September 20, 2016.

About 100 students attended the evening Mass. Father addressed the group during dinner speaking about the mission of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word and EWTN. He also shared with them his own vocation story.

“The students were devout and attentive during Mass and throughout my address, I was impressed,” said Father Leonard, “Fr. Rick Chenault, the Campus Chaplain, and Allie Loomis, the Campus Ministry Coordinator, are doing a great work for God there.”

Upon his return t0 the friary, Fr. Leonard shared how polite the staff and students were and spoke highly of the their gracious and generous hospitality. Br. John Therese and Father will travel this upcoming Saturday to attend the University of Alabama vs. Kent State football game. Stay posted for live social media updates from there!
