  14. Prayers to the family during this time. Our Lord loans us two of his children to be our parents. They belong to us for such a short time. When he calls their name to return home to him, their loss is the most difficult heartbreak we face in life. We are the fortunate ones that have our faith. We know we will meet them again. I pity those with no faith at times of loss. I am sorry for Father Joseph’s tremendous loss, but I like to think that there is a party in Heaven right now. Just like Christenings here. In Heaven they are celebrating the arrival of a new soul.

  15. May God welcome your father into eternal rest. May He comfort you , your mom and your family at this difficult time. My prayers are with you and your family.

Over the years I have greatly appreciated seeing glimpses of your family on Mother Angelica ‘ s live shows, Father Joseph, and watching as you grew into the superb Priest you are — and indeed were — from the start. 33. I offer sympathy and prayers to your mom and you for your dad’s physical absence, but we know he lives on in your mom’s heart and memories. And he lives on in and through you, Fr. Joe, things you say and may do will remind you of your dad. You will, at times, sense his presence spiritually. At times, you will remember something he may have said or done that will make you laugh out loud.
We don’t grieve like the world because we know the physical separation is temporary, and we shall be together again.
Until then, you keep doing what God’s called you to do, teaching, preaching, and rejoice in the lord.

Thank you for answering the Call

    Lady Patricia Butler

We know how difficult it is to lose a loved one, but during this pandemic especially, because it is taking so many lives prematurely. We pray for you and your family at this time, and know that your Dad is with our Father in Heaven.

  57. Dear Father Joseph

Not seeing you on EWTN I thought you were ill. I began to watch your Mass that morning and heard you mention the passing of your father back in November. So sorry for your loss. It’s so difficult losing a parent. Please except my sympathy. God Bless You and your two Families!!!

  59. FR, thank you for sharing the mystical experience you had before your fathers passing.
I want to share what I experienced prior to my father-in- laws death. Two days prior to his passing while visiting him in a nursing home, my wife and I, noticed him staring at a corner of his room. My wife asked him what he was looking at . He replied Heaven! She asked him who he saw. He replied JESUS! She asked him what he looked like. He replied PERFECTION!!! Then she asked him one more time what JESUS said. JESUS said “I love you!!! He passed away two days later.
What a wonderful way to die.

  60. I too have suffered loss. My parents and 2 husbands. The love of Jesus got me through those terrible dark times. How do people go through any loss without Jesus walking besides them? The sadness will subside over time but the loss will forever be there. But that’s a good thing. It means they’re forever in our thoughts and prayers. We bring them to Mass every day and that brings solace and peace and a reminder that we will be together once more. Blessings and prayers be with you.

  61. Father Joseph Mary, I am saddened to hear of you loss. Praying for your family and for your dad, Nick.
EWTN is watched daily in our household, keeping all at EWTN in prayers.

  62. Father Joseph Mary,

I did not know how to contact you. First, my deepest sympathy in the passing of your father last year. May his memories help you during these difficult times and God grant you peace.

I am writing to say thank you for your homilies. During this pandemic, I have spent a lot of time watching EWTN. I feel encouraged after your homilies.

Thank you for being bold enough to speak about Dr. King and black Nuns who have made a difference in the Catholic faith. J was raised Baptist. I had a wonderful Christian up bringing. I knew from an early age that my calling was to be part of the catholic faith. So I became catholic. It is difficult sometime. I live in Edwardsville Il sometime feel not welcome. I love Jesus, so I am staying with the Catholic faith.

Thank you again for your boldness.

    God bless you.

    .

  63. Dear Fr. Joseph:

Your tribute to your dad was so moving and a blessing. It reminded me of the love of Christ our parents shared with us by bringing us as children to His knowledge and love. For this at the very least they have earned a place at Our Lord’s banquet. God Bless.

  64. Dear Father Joseph,
    God be blessed!

My name is Diana, we use to go every year to EWTN and the Shrine with Fernando peregrinations from
Miami, I’m sorry about your father and I’ll pray from him.

Father you pray for my son one time outside the Shrine when he was crying so loud for he fell and hit in his head, I hope you remember that.

I was prying the Rosary with you from the TV and I saw a lot of Priest in the white ornaments for the adoration be transport to the sky, they are many and the star leaving the earth from the adoration to the sky.

Please father I need to talk to you, please if is possible you could write to me for I can know where I call you, thank you! Thank you for all of you gives to us!

  65. I listened to your sermon on Jan. 26 on St Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville and Loras College. My granduncle, Fr. Matt Hoffmann, was the pastor when St francis Xavier was made into a basilica in 1956. He taught economics for many years at Loras. Another granduncle, Alois Hoffmann, donated funds to refurbish Hoffmann Hall at Loras College. The dedication of this church was in Life Magazine possibly in December of 1956.

I appreciated this sermon and hope to hear from you.

Keep the peace of the Lord,

    Dr. Joseph L. Thimes
