IRONDALE, Ala. – Large crowds of lay faithful wore their Sunday best for this year’s Corpus Christi Solemn Mass andProcession in Irondale and Hanceville, Alabama.

Fr. Paschal Mary was the main celebrant for the May 29th Mass at EWTN. Br. Matthew and Br. John Therese served as masters of ceremonies and were tasked with organizing the event. Planning a Corpus Christi celebration requires a few months of preparation.  At EWTN, the brothers are the event planners.  They are responsible for finding altar servers, young flower girls, making arrangements with the EWTN Facilities and Security Departments, and contacting the Knights of Columbus.

The day before the Mass, participants gathered for a practice session.  Afterwards, the altar servers were fitted for cassocks and surplices.  Large amounts of roses were also purchased and the pedals were placed in baskets to sprinkle on the ground during the Blessed Sacrament procession. Everything went as planned during this yearís celebration as hundreds of thousands viewed the glorious event on EWTN.

At the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Fr. John Paul was celebrant of the benediction and procession. The Sisters, Knights of the Holy Eucharist and the Shrine employees organized the event.  As usual, it was a beautiful celebration of the Body and Blood of Christ for the people present and those viewing it on EWTN.
