HANCEVILLE, Ala. – People from all over Alabama and surrounding states filled the Shrine of the Blessed to celebrate Divino Niño Day.

For the past three years during the first weekend of September, the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration have honored the Divine Child Jesus with a special day of devotion and worship. Fr. Paschal and the Shrine employees helped coordinate this year’s event.

Cars and buses filled the Shrine parking lot early on Saturday September 4, 2016. Activities began with morning confessions, and then a spiritual talk, followed by Holy Mass celebrated in Spanish, lunch, and tours of the John Paul II Eucharistic Center, a mariachi concert and a concluded with a Rosary procession. The Crowd was so large that Masses were celebrated in the upper and lower Shrine chapels. The event continued into Sunday with morning Mass and ended with a solemn evening benediction.

  1. Divino Nino,
I love and adore you. Please keep my mother and father healthy. Care for my son and his family. Keep our priests safe from the evil one. I offer all of my intentions to your loving heart.

  2. Such a beautiful ceremony. I watch EWTN everyday and purchase items from the Religious Gift Shop. My daughter lives in Charleston, SC and is planning to take me to Alabama. Might be sometime next year.
