Founded in 1946 by Father Carlo Balić, OFM, PAMI has long been associated with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, earning its “Pontifical” title from Pope John XXIII in 1959. The Academy promotes Marian scholarship worldwide through congresses and publications, with a membership limited to 80 Ordinary members, including at least 10 from Rome or Lazio.
